
When we first discussed the R805 project with our customer, the requirement sounded simple:
“Can this device continue working when the power supply is unstable?”
At first, this seemed like a small change.
After all, adding battery support to a wireless device may sound straightforward.
But when our engineering team started discussing the project in detail, we realized that this was not only a battery problem.
It was a question about how a wireless device should work in real environments.
The customer's market had a common challenge.
In some areas, mobile network coverage was available, but stable electricity was not always guaranteed.
For end users, an unexpected power interruption could also mean losing internet access at the same time.
They needed a device that could provide a more reliable connection experience.
This was where the idea of adding battery support to R805 started.

In product development, customer requirements are usually only the beginning.
The difficult part is turning an idea into a product that works reliably.
For R805, our engineers needed to consider several questions:
Where should the battery be placed?
How can we maintain the original product structure?
How can we balance power consumption and device performance?
Will the new design affect other functions?
These questions required discussion between different teams, including hardware engineers, software engineers, and product teams.
Because a wireless communication device is not made of independent parts.

During development, the process was not completed in one step.
Like many hardware projects, R805 went through several rounds of adjustment.
Some changes were made after testing.
Some improvements came from communication with the customer.
Some details were optimized based on actual usage requirements.
For example, adding a battery is not only about increasing battery capacity.

Therefore, our goal was not to turn R805 into a portable WiFi device.
The goal was to give a CPE router more flexibility while keeping the advantages of a CPE product.
After several rounds of development and improvement, R805 was delivered to customers.
The feedback helped us confirm that this design direction matched real application needs.
For the customer, the battery design provided another option when power conditions were not ideal.
For our engineering team, this project also showed something important:
Product development cannot only happen inside the factory.
The most valuable ideas often come from conversations with customers and understanding how products are used after delivery.
Through years of wireless communication product development, we have learned that there is no single design that fits every market.
A product that works well in one region may need adjustments for another environment.
